Daguerreotype Photo Process Highlights 49er Gold Prospectors

January 24, 1848, James W. Marshall found placer gold in Coloma, Ca. 

Photographers found a way to make their own gold with the new invention of photograpy. Cameras from all over the world were focussed on the gold prospectors and the energy surrounding the discovery. The Gold Rush was the first significant happening in America that photographers could concentrate on.
