revolvermaps.com is Very Interesting

Try this. Go to  http://www.revolvermaps.com/ . You will find a revolving map in the upper lefthand corner. Click on the globe to stop. Look at the direction key below the globe. This is just an interesting observation. Go to STATES and you can click on Arizona, California, or Alaska and check out the geography. Hmmm.. maybe some areas worth prospecting?

Divining Rods, Dowsing Rods, Dowsing Instruments

Image
For FYI only. If you have heard of dowsing rods and are interested, here is a commercial site with some interesting instruments. Honestly, I have never tried it but know those who have. They seem to be converts, but I haven't gone that extra step to trying it out.  http://simmonsscientificproducts.com/?gclid=CLzj4a-Qi7gCFUfhQgod3S8A_Q Click on products to the left and the inventory is revealed.  Crude dowsing rods are claimed to have revealed the remains of Vietnam veterans, therefore, having a personal historical involvement (1970-1971), I advertise this. L - rods are also a name for these instruments.Whether you are searching for  your gold detector, your buried treasure, your lost treasure, or dowsing for gold, this information could help. Many claimed to make your  lost treasure hunt successful.

Michael Priester, Thomas Hentschel, Bernd Benthin- A PDF about Tools for Mining & Techniques & Processes of Small Scale Mining

I have found an interesting PDF from a German researcher which involves an analysis of a number of topics regarding small scale mining. To be honest, one should start with section A2. Read a long and you will find some interesting analysis on mining. If you expect everything to be related to gold directly, move on. But, nevertheless, much of it applies to mining gold. Mining equipment, ecology, testing, building, crushing, refining - it's all good. You Can download this. http://www.gate-international.org/documents/publications/webdocs/pdfs/g10toe_1.pdf

Build a Magnetic Sluice for Black Sands

44 pieces of information, many related to building your own prospecting equipment. For example, those of you wishing to capture black sand (you can sell it to some mining stores), here is a place to find out how to build a magnetic sluice. I have even used it to make a toy. http://minerswarehouse.com/build-your-own-gold-prospecting-equipment/

Gold Sluice Box Plans - Convenient Gold Recovery

Image
When traveling off road to a remote claim, convenience in shape and weight are paramount. I have found plans for an 18" sluice that are really perfect for this application. Fine screening is required prior to sluicing. This is a great site. http://www.berms.com/Gold%20Sluice.htm

Homemade Dredge - DIY Mining Supplies for Gold Prospectors

Image
What I like about this post of plans is that the author discusses ways to get an idea of how a dredge could be built. One way, and a way I have used, is to examine some of the best companies who make dredging equipment. Go to a mining/prospecting store and study the relationship between the major parts. Look at the dimensions. Get an idea in your mind how the machine works, in this case, a dredge. A tape measure can be of great help, and also, a paper and pencil. If the shop owner allows it, take some measurements. You are not trying to make anything to sell to others. You simply want to make one for your needs. I seriously doubt if there is much in any store that has not been imitated for personal use. Your  parts will be fabricated from what you can get, not from what the manufacturer used. Next, look at pictures and photographs of equipment. I have done this, also. All you need is information about one dimension and you are pretty well set for approximations of the other dim...
